Fesenkova V.I. The influence of the Erbisol on functional activity of immunocompetent cells. Manuscript. Dissertation for the degree of candidate of biological sciences in the specialty 03.00.09 immunology (biological sciences). – Bogomolets National Medical University, Kyiv, 2003.

The work is designed to study the influence of the Erbisol class preparations on functional activity of immunocompetent cells.

There was determined the action of various Erbisol doses on functional activity of macrophage phagocytic linkage by secretion of IL-1β and TNF-α, of T-helpers type I (ThI) by their production of IL-2 and γ-IF, of T-helpers type II (ThII) by their secretion of IL-4 and IL-10. The preparations used in different concentrations (with maximum dilution 1:100) showed the increase in production of IL-1β and TNF-α by cells of macrophage monocytic linkage and IL-2 and γ-IF by T-helpers type I. It was demonstrated first time that Erbisols foster the decrease in functional activity of T-helpers type II with production of such anti-inflammatory cytokines as IL-4 and IL-10.

The determined effects of preparations were retained in vitro in the study of the immunocompetent cells of patients with chronic urogenital chlamydiosis. There was demonstrated the statistical increase of immune cells, under the action of Erbisol preparations, in production of IL-1β and NO as factors of unspecific immunity and oxygen-independent mechanisms of killing, such an important factor of antichlamydial immunity as γ-IF along with inhibition of anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10.

If after incubation of cells in vitro the expression of membrane antigens of lymphocytes (CD3+, CD4+, CD3+16+56+, CD3+DR+, CD4+25+) is inhibited then the Erbisol preparations demonstrate the protective action in relation to the immune T-line cells (T-lymphocytes, T-helpers, T-killers, T-active and T-helpers by receptors to IL-2 (CD25+), respectively) and do not restore of expression of antigens to B-cells (CD3-19, CD-DR+) after incubation and decreased parameters this expression.

Thus, the immunostimulating and protective effects of the Erbisol preparations were demonstrated first time on the basis of investigating the factors of intercellular cooperation (production of mediators and expression of receptors and antigens which define phenotypical specificities); there were elucidated the peculiar disturbances of immunity which suggest the possibility to use these preparations, as it was demonstrated in cases of such a pathology like chronic urogenital chlamydiosis.

Key words: cytokines, T-helpers type I and II, membrane antigens, class Erbisol preparations.
